Anassa, meaning ‘queen’ in ancient Greek, is a superbly apt name for this palatial Cypriot resort with it’s classical low-rise buildings and tropical gardens, arranged around an idyllic village square. Classic interiors feature Roman Mosaics, beautiful Venetian frescoes, with facilities inspired by the outstanding natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Guests may choose between romantic suites with their own plunge or whirl pool on a terrace looking out to sea, simple yet elegant rooms, or villas with panoramic sea views. Throughout the complex, traditional architecture has been designed to incorporate complete privacy for guests. Resort facilities are first-rate; perhaps the jewel of the Anassa hotel and resort is ‘The Thalassa’ spa, offering pure indulgent relaxation. This Roman-style health retreat provides a full spectrum of wellbeing treatments, with facilities including a sky-lit, columned indoor pool, 18 treatment rooms, saunas, steam baths, a seawater exercise pool, squash court, fitness room and hair salon. On the beach, sailing lessons are on offer, boats are available for private hire or as a charter with a skipper, with the local waters offering fantastic sailing locations.

The resort offers four different restaurants for different tastes or occasions. The Basiliko, cavernous, with cool stone surroundings, is the hotel’s signature restaurant, offering gourmet cuisine prepared using local, seasonal ingredients. The Helios offers a Mediterranean feast of handmade pasta and fresh local seafood, with daily and à la carte menus and an outdoor terrace. The Amphora offers informal dining, with both locally-inspired and international cuisine, and the pool-side Pelago is the least formal, perfect for light al fresco bites from the lava-stone grill, and à la carte lunches and dinner.

The Amassa’s pre-order ‘Baby go lightly’ service allows arrangement for items such as cots, car seats, push chairs, and baby baths to be available before arrival for travelling families. Crèche is provided with highly-qualified English-speaking nursery nurses for children 6mths up to 3 years old, and the complimentary Smiling Dolphin Club has supervised playrooms and organized activities including tennis, water-skiing and scuba-diving lessons for 4-12 year olds.

Weddings in the unique Ayia Athanassia chapel in the heart of Anassa’s Byzantine village square are a specialty of the resort. Paths bordered with sweet smelling lavender and scarlet bougainvillea lead to the door of church giving the perfect setting, and the resort’s expert planners can tailor all the arrangements to suit your specific needs. Following the service could be a candle-lit meal for two, or a gala banquet for one hundred or more guests in the hotel, with excellent cuisine and discrete yet attentive service.

Wherever you stay in the Anassa hotel and resort, you are guaranteed a luxurious stay in beautiful surroundings. With the array of activities and excellent facilities, your time spent in this famously opulent Cypriot retreat is sure to leave you with lasting memories of an indulgent holiday.

Cruises are a wonderful holiday experience, and quite different from most types of holiday where you stay in one hotel and experience only one location. With a cruise, your ship is your hotel, and often, as you sleep, you will travel from place to place waking up each morning with different views and new things to see and do.

When you cruise to Florida, a large part of the cruise is on the open water, so you have plenty of time to enjoy all the facilities available to you on your chosen cruise ship. There’s no chance of being bored however as there is always plenty to do on board a cruise ship, and you’re free to join in with activities or not as you choose. Lying back in a sun lounger watching the water roll by is perfectly acceptable too.

You’ll board your ship in England – Southampton is one of the main ports for cruise ships leaving the UK, and from this point your holiday begins. No transfers, no waiting for planes to take off or land, no cramped seating. Instead, you can settle straight in to your cabin, and get settled because your holiday has begun.

Although most of your family cruise to Florida is open water, there are still things to see, you’ll sail past parts of Europe and often get the chance to do a little sight seeing and shopping in somewhere like France or Spain. Then when you’re out on the open waters, the chances of seeing whales and other ocean life becomes greater.

There are obviously a number of different places that your cruise ship might dock when you reach Florida, Miami is one of them, and this is a city that is pretty spectacular to view as you sail in. Built right on the beaches, it’s a vibrant place that is alive with people and entertainment.

Florida as a destination is somewhere pretty special, lying at the south east of the USA, Florida offers visitors many different things. Orlando with its theme parks is very family oriented, there are so many different entertainments to enjoy, that you could spend a very long time trying to take them all in. Miami is fantastic if you want sun, sand and plenty of sea to spend your time in, and whether it’s swimming, surfing or some other form of water sports there is lots of an aquatic nature here to keep you busy and entertained. Key west, and the space coast offer two more exciting areas of opportunity, and the everglades offer an excellent change of pace with Alligators and many interesting birds to be seen as well as the opportunity to skim the waters in an airboat. In fact, no matter where you land, there is pretty much something for everyone in this state.

There is so much to see and do here, world famous theme parks, thrilling rides, and non stop entertainment. Many people however don’t realise that there is a lot more to Orlando than this. The area has many wonderful lakes and rivers. There are fabulous beaches with white sand, golf courses in abundance, and the region is also home to eight major shopping malls.

Orlando airport is located 6.5 miles south of Orlando city so very east to get to and from the airport. There are also plenty of airlines that offer cheap flights to Orlando from all corners of the globe.

If you’re looking for theme parks, then Orlando is very much where it’s at. There are four Disney theme parks which cover a total of around 30,000 acres between them – The Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot. As well as these, there is also the Universal Orlando Resort which is a joint partnership between NBC Universal and the Blackstone group. It consists of two theme parks Universal Studios Florida, and Universal’s Islands of Adventure, as well as Universal CityWalk which is a night-time entertainment area, and the Wet n Wild water park.

SeaWorld Orlando is another theme park, but on a marine theme. It’s run by SeaWorld parks and entertainment, and is combined with its neighbour theme parks Discovery Cove, and the Aquatica waterpark to form a large entertainment complex that is devoted to the oceans of the Earth and the life that can be found in them.

If you’re looking for something that’s not a theme park, there is still plenty to be found here. The music scene in Orlando is very active, with hip-hop, metal, rock and Latino music all very big. Orlando was also once known as ‘hollywood east’ because of the many movies which were made here, and although this has slowed in the past decade or so, it still houses a large production center for TV shows, and there are many opportunities to be part of an audience available here.

A trip out into the Everglades makes for a wonderful experience. One of the best ways to do this region is by airboat, which gives you a great feeling of flying across the water. There are other ways to see the everglades, canoe, boat, or simply on foot by taking a walking tour. And whichever method you choose, you’ll get to see a variety of birds and animals, including of course the Florida Alligators which are most spectacular.

If you’re looking for something different to do, and a new way to experience Orlando, then a hot air balloon ride might just take your fancy. An hour long sunrise balloon flight with champagne toast, breakfast souvenirs and the chance to take some amazing photos as you travel through the Florida skies.

The Kennedy Space Center just to the east of Orlando, is NASA’s launch headquarters and the visitor center here makes an excellent excursion. This is the only place on Earth where you can tour launch areas, meet a veteran astronaut, see gigantic rockets and have a go in simulators that let you get a feel for what an astronaut experiences when he goes into space. Orlando, Florida has so much to offer that in fact, the only problem that anyone visiting Orlando is likely to have, is how to fit in everything they want to do.

In some cases as much as a staggering 45%.

According to research conducted by travelsupermarket.com, booking your hotel via a third party will save you an average of 14%. So, by using agents online such as Expedia and hotel brokers such as Laterooms.com along with checking the prices with the hotel themselves, business and holidaymakers can witness the difference themselves, which in some cases can equate to more than 40%.

If you’re looking for one of many weekend breaks in the U.K for instance; a two night stay in Edinburgh from the 13th July in the Apex City Hotel, will set you back a staggering £234.50 when booked with the hotel itself. When compared to booking via a third party, the same hotel costs a mere £129.37, that’s an astounding 45% difference.

A weekend in Edinburgh isn’t an isolated example. A 2 night stay from the 11th of September in the Catalonia Barcelona Plaza will directly charge £123.61, while an online agent will quote you a 37% reduction. A similar pattern can be seen with the Millennium Hilton in New York, where savings of £59.55 per night can be found via agents or brokers.

Money saving tips for your accommodation:

Use online agents or brokers to search for your hotels, there you’ll find a wide range of hotels and it’ll be easy for you to find a great deal.

If you’re familiar with the name of your desired hotel, type it in to leading agents. You’ll be presented with a variety of different price options for the same room. Searching by name will also bring back a range of different providers competing for your business.

Consider family rooms for additional savings when you are traveling with your kids.

Booking midweek dates will leave you open to the best offers on late deals. For business nights, book late to give yourself more chance of a last minute deal on stays during midweek rather than the weekend.

For bookings during the weekend, opt for early rather than last minute to get early booking offers. Book early for leisure rates.

The A610 and A620 models both offer a host of features in an easy-to-use, compact camera. The only main difference between the two models is the megapixels. The A610 offers 5 megapixels, whereas the A620 offers a 7.1 megapixel CCD. Either one is great for the ability to zoom, crop and print richly detailed photos as large as 8 by 10 inches. They both have four times optical zooms and a two inch LCD screen. They both also offer customizable shooting modes that make picture-taking simple, even if you’re a novice.

Another Canon PowerShot that is very popular is the SD880 IS. It is a 10 megapixel resolution camera with 4X optical zoom, making it one of the strongest quality cameras on the market. The image stabilization feature is great for shaky hands and the pictures come out high quality. The wide angle lens is also great when it comes to taking photos at strange angles.

The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P200 is a small camera with a large LCD screen. The compact camera is only 4 inches wide, 2 inches high and 1 inch deep but has a high-resolution 2-inch LCD screen so you can instantly enjoy viewing and sharing your photos. It also has 7.2 megapixels, a quick auto-focus, and a 3X optical zoom lens to help bring your subject closer. The feature of pre-flash metering sets exposure and reduces red-eye for great flash shots. The camera also has a movie mode that will record as much as your memory card will store.

For a more advanced camera that still provides the simplicity of a point and click camera, the Kodak EasyShare Z740 is a great bet. It has a more powerful optical zoom, at 10X, plus a 5X digital zoom for a total of 50X zoom capability. The EasyShare also comes with the exclusive Kodak Color Science Chip which will give your pictures vibrant color even under difficult lighting conditions. It also comes with 16 shooting modes to give you the perfect shot no matter what the environment.

Finally, the Fuji FinePix S5200 tows the lines between point and click and DSLR. It’s larger and heavier than the average pocket sized point and click camera, but just the right size if you want to use a long lens and have more control than the typical casual photographer. It comes with a 10X optical zoom and a 5.7X digital zoom to give you a total of 57X zoom range, as well as contains intuitive controls that allow you to set up shots quickly and effortlessly.

Digital SLR cameras are the standard tool for serious photographers. With the introduction of cameras such as the Nikon D40 and the Canon Digital Rebel XTi, the market for digital SLR cameras has expanded tremendously. Digital SLR cameras usually look like the old standard 35mm film cameras and may use the same lenses, and offer advantages such as fast operation and large controls, excellent image quality, and interchangeable lenses.

The same companies that made 35mm film SLRs make digital SLRs. The Canon EOS digital camera, for instance, can be used with the same lenses as its 35mm film version from the 1990s. The market leader in the professional/advanced amateur photography world is Canon. If you don’t have a major investment in lenses you will probably want to buy a Canon digital SLR. The number two spot is occupied by Nikon, which is also a reasonable choice. Fuji and Kodak have made digital SLRs that accept Canon and Nikon-mount lenses. The other more obscure companies don’t have enough market share to invest enough money to build competitive bodies. Minolta, Olympus, Pentax, and Sigma are the small vendors in the digital SLR market. Probably the only one of these brands worth considering for purchase is the Olympus, due to its innovative Four-Thirds system.

The Canon EOS 5D boasts a full-frame 12.8 megapixel CMOS sensor in a relatively compact magnesium-alloy body. It is still reasonably priced ($2,500) for a full-frame DSLR. It provides outstanding image quality, and the color control gives you superior command of color balance, contrast, and sharpness. Pictures look great from virtually any angle on the large 2.5-inch LCD screen. Its easy-to-use menus simplify shooting operations so you can focus on your vision. It also delivers full 1080p, 30 fps video with full manual control.

The Canon EOS 7D can seem even more impressive to most consumers when you consider its price tag ($1,700). There’s a lot to like on this camera, its superior image quality across the sensitivity spectrum and its super fast performance, and its 18 megapixel resolution. It also has HD video capabilities which will make it a popular choice with most consumers for a long while.

Though it has some tough competition, the Olympus E-30, which lists for $1,100, holds its own in the market and also offers some appealing features, such as its exclusive vibrating filter that eliminates dust to produce spotless pictures no matter where you change lenses. Olympus also boasts creative Art Filters which add-in camera special effects such as the Warhol-esque Pop Art with over-saturated colors, high-contract grainy Grainy Film, and the Pin Hole Camera.

The Nikon D90 is known as the king of mid-ranged DSLRs. Its list price is $900 and is geared toward photo enthusiasts looking for more flexibility and better performance than entry-level DSLRs. At this price point, the Nikon D90 is hard to beat, especially when you take into account its video capability.

If your budget for your DSLR is around a $1000, then you should definitely consider the Canon EOS Rebel T2i. It has a lot of the same and similar features of the Canon EOS 7D like the 1080p video and full autofocus. In fact, for this price, you won’t find a more full-featured or higher specified camera on the market.

It offers fantastic opportunities for families who want to enjoy child friendly holidays, couples looking for romantic getaway and travelers who want a unique sun and sea based getaway. Holidays in Turkey always offer me some sweet memories. The mesmerizing coastline, culture and mouthwatering cuisine add zing to my holidays.

Though I visited various tourist destinations in Turkey, Icmeler is the most favorite place for me. It is located in the south east coast of Turkey. The beach resort of Icmeler offers a relaxed village atmosphere, without compromising with the modern amenities. The turquoise waters and steep hills covered by pine forests enhance my holiday mood greatly. The resort is clean and well maintained. Icmeler features well kept gardens that soften the lines of hotels and apartment blocks. The restaurants serve the best food items. I used to relish the local specialties like kebabs, clay pot casserole with some Turkish wine or raki, which is the traditional aniseed spirit. Indian, Italian and Chinese menus are served in the Majestic Restaurant here. Iclemer supports plenty of water sports. Expedition to Cleopatra’s Isle, the Pamukkale waterfalls renowned for their curative spring waters and the archeological site of Ephesus offer some memorable experiences.

Marmaris is another splendid spot in Turkey. Once I set my foot here, I start enjoying the true holiday aura. It is a Turkish Rivera, which offers plenty of accommodation and entertainment options. Catamaran trips, water skiing, scuba diving, sailing and parasailing are some of the fantastic activities that can be enjoyed here. It is located just 8 km away from Icmeler. Marmaris offers a delightful shopping experience. In the downtown bazaar, we can buy natural sponges, the local blue glass beads, carpets, embroidery and sandals at competitive prices. Atlantis water Park in Marmaris boasts of attractions for fun lovers of all ages. Mini golf, restaurants, kids pool, wave pool and numerous slides offer a full day fun for the entire family. The park is located on the sea front with private beach. It offers free sun beds and umbrellas throughout the day.

Dalyan is a beautiful river bank town in Turkey. As it is quite different from other resort towns in Turkey, I like to visit it during my trips to Turkey. Dalyan Cayi, Lycian tombs and Iztuzu Beach are some of the stunning locations to visit here. It is also famous for therapeutic mud baths.

It is not just about the sunshine filled delights of cheap Turkey holidays; Turkey also offers a host of cultural experiences. The following are three must haves for your photo album.

Did you know for example that those enjoying cheap Turkey holidays can explore the ancient city of Troy where the Trojan wars were fought and where the legend of the Trojan horse comes from? Troy is now a ruin but all holidays to Turkey should include a trip the see the ruins. This can be enjoyed on a guided tour and it is possible to see a fascinating reconstruction of the horse.

Another must-do cultural experience is an emotional visit to the battlefields at Gallipoli. The cliffs there were the scene of one of the bloodiest battles of WW1 and it is a very moving experience to visit Anzac cove and the Lone Pine Cemetery with its countless white crosses marking the graves of those, mainly from Australia and New Zealand, who made the ultimate sacrifice. Without those soldiers, it is unlikely that any of us would have the freedom to enjoy cheap Turkey holidays today.

A third fascinating cultural experience in Turkey is a trip around the ancient city of Istanbul. Visit the Blue Mosque, Istanbul’s best known landmark, with its array of minarets. The Topkapi Palace is also well worth a visit to see how the sultans lived. And with plenty of shopping in the old world bazaars, holidays to Turkey can never be said to be complete until you have spent time in this magnificent city.

With cheap holidays to Turkey now widely available, scratching just a little bit below the surface of this fascinating country soon unearths a rich and sometimes turbulent history and a range of possible cultural experiences that few destinations can match.

Italy is without a doubt one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe. It’s famous for its warm climate, pizzas, delicious ice creams, golden beaches, and of course for its big cities: Rome, the capital with its historical buildings, Milan, the fashion Mecca and Venice, the fascinating “swimming city”. But there is so much more to Italy than these popular sights: A thing not to miss out on when travelling to Italy are the exceptional Italian Lakes, Lake Garda and Lake Como.

Lake Como and Lake Garda are the true beauties of northern Italy. Lake Garda, located about half-way between Venice and Milan is the biggest lake in Italy. It’s surface area measures 369.98 km² and it lies between the provinces of Verona, Brescia and Trento. Lake Como, also known as “Lario”, has with 146 km² a smaller surface than Garda but stretches out to 46 km and at over 400m deep it is one of the deepest lakes in Europe. Together with Garda, Lake Como is regarded as being the most beautiful lake in Italy. That’s also why may celebrities, such as George Clooney, Sylvester Stallone, Gianni Versace, Ronaldinho and Madonna own villas at the shores of Lake Como.

Therefore it’s not a big surprise that most of the leading travel agents and tour operators offer more and more holidays to the lakes, where tourists enjoy the stunning views of the deep blue water, high mountains, and idyllic little towns along the shoreline. Another big plus is of course the warm climate and the atmosphere that is much more characteristic and personal than in the conventional Italian holiday destinations, such as party town Rimini and other cities at the seaside, where loud parties go on for 24hours and in the daytime the beaches are overly cramped.

Tourists that decide to treat themselves with a holiday to the Italian Lakes and still like to relax on a beach don’t need to go all the way to the coast. There are beaches spread out all around the lakes. Some are small and romantic, some bigger with a wide range of water sports. In the evenings the towns meet everybody’s wishes: From fine dining restaurants, live jazz music to clubs with party sounds, you can find pretty much anything and live life at your very own pace at the Italian Lakes.
