If you want to get your holiday off to a nice relaxed start then you might like to consider driving to the airport yourself, in your own car.

Driving to the airport is a great option if you have got a young family, as it means that you can make your way to your plane under your own steam without having to worry about train timetables and catching connections. You are on holiday right? Well make sure you start it off the right way!

If you are flying from one of the UK’s major airports then there are plenty of airport car parks that surround the terminals. Many of these will not only make sure that your car is looked after in a safe and secure place whilst you are on holiday but they will also provide you will a transfer or shuttle straight to the terminal and a pick up when you arrive back from your holiday too!

These types of car parks (the ones that are not actually at the airport are called off port parking) and are usually a lot cheaper than the car parks that are on the airport’s property.

However if convenience is more important to you and you feel like you just want to park up and step right into the terminal building then you can pay a little extra money and park at the airport itself.
Heathrow Parking (Heathrow being the airport on the west side of London) offers a choice of both off port and on site airport parking and has eight car parks to choose from.

Gatwick Parking offers six car parks at one of the busiest airports in the world.

If you are flying from further north in the UK then Manchester Airport Parking also offers a good selection of cost effective ways to park so that you can keep your car close by at take-off and landing.

In fact it not only works out better for the stress levels to drive but if there is more than one of you traveling then it will kinder of the pocket too. The price for staying at an airport car park will work out much more cost effective than if you were to buy a return train ticket for each member of your family.

When you use BCP you can guarantee that you are getting the best deal possible and keeping your car in secure and well-staffed car park. This way you can relax and enjoy your holiday without having to worry about your journey home.

It is the company that everyone loves to hate, but it is still branded as the world’s favourite airline and the largest low cost carrier in Europe. Confused by all this and the stories, both positive and negative, that I have heard about Ryanair, I was a bit weary of booking flights with the company.

However, the winter can be long and cold, and so I decided to give Ryanair a go when I found cheap flights from London to Tenerife (Tenerife is known as the Island of Eternal Spring) last February. I was travelling from the USA to London for a wedding and decided to enjoy a bit of sunshine along the way.

Yes, the flights were cheap, but like most other customers I have to complain about all the extra costs for online check-in, priority boarding, admin and luggage. I tried to avoid paying for all these extras because you end up spending the same as a standard airline fare. It has been a while since I have booked with a low cost airline and I was also very surprised at how complicated the booking pages have got, with lots of different options to check for the extras.

Flights booked and suitcase repacked I was ready to fly to Tenerife. The flight was just as I had expected – basic. To be honest, I didn’t have high expectations because I had read so much bad feedback. However, all in all it was ok. It arrived on time on both journeys, the air hostesses were helpful and I got to my destination with my luggage. I always price check airfares with other companies including standard airlines, just to make sure I can’t get similar prices with a better service. Sometimes you are lucky….but most of the time I am stuck with low cost carriers. However, at the end of the day, you get what you pay for. I saved over £100 by booking with Ryanair rather than British Airways. Don’t you think it is worth the sacrifice?

Ryanair was in the news recently for considering charging travelers one pound for going to the bathroom. I never hold Ryanair in high value and I know what I am getting into when I fly them. If you want to be treated like a person, you don’t fly ryanair. If you want to be treated like cattle, you fly ryanair! But even this is a little low for them. I mean what if I take a three hour flight and don’t have a pound. I don’t want to beg someone for money to use a loo. Moreover, I think this would see people buy a lot less beverages on the flight.

Airlines never get it right. They are always over charging us and never give us cheap flights or ticket deals. They nickel and dime us for everything and there is always some new fee. If airlines wanted to fill those seats and make money, they need to connect with customers and give them service. Give them a reason to come back and if they do, they will pay more. It is why Apple can charge 2,000 for a laptop and people will pay it. People are loyal to the brand. Airlines don’t understand this. But if they want to survive, they better!
