Anything can be transformed into a good photograph with the right pair of eyes, the right equipment, and a bit of luck. However, the job is made a whole lot easier when presented with stunning scenery, breath-taking views, incredible architecture, or unusual events. Travel opens up new worlds to the photographer and, whether amateur or professional, none would think of jumping on a plane without their camera. Just remember to take out adequate insurance – either international or, if staying in your home country, domestic travel insurance – to cover you for damage or theft.
Below is a round-up of some of the best spots in Australasia to take an awesome landscape photograph – guaranteed.

The Pilbara, Western Australia, Australia
Wide, open spaces, endless skies, craggy rock formations and one of the world’s most spectacular (and least heard of) group of gorges, located in the hard-to-get-to Karijini National Park. The Pilbara in Western Australia is remote, barren, and picture-perfect; a landscape so vast and austere it makes you feel incredibly insignificant – and that is the perfect recipe for a stunning photo. The contrast of rusty red rock, bright blue sky and perhaps one lonely, forlorn looking tree makes a wonderful composition.

Lake Wakatipu, South Island, New Zealand
On a cold, crisp, clear winter morning the aptly named Remarkable Mountains on Lake Wakatipu’s southeastern edge are reflected in the water so that lake and mountain seem as one. From some angles, the snow-capped mountains seem to surround the lake and make for a captivating photograph – there is a reason that much of Lord of the Rings was filmed in this area. Hire a car, drive around the lake and take shots from many different angles – they’re all good and result in totally different photographs.

Whitsunday Islands. Queensland, Australia
Whether in water or on terra firma, the Whitsundays offer the perfect location for taking truly spectacular photos. Pristine white sand beaches, turquoise coral seas, uninhabited islands, lush rainforest, and an abundance of life both in and out of the water makes for natural beauty that it won’t be hard to capture well. Consider chartering a scenic seaplane flight to fly over the islands for some fantastic aerial shots – it will also allow you to capture one of the most stunning beaches in the world, Whitehaven, a 7km stretch of pure silica on Whitsunday Island. Hill Inlet, at the northern end of the beach, is a stunning cove that creates a beautiful fusion of colours as the tide shifts, blending the pure white of the sand with the turquoise of the sea.

Huka Falls, North Island, New Zealand
Much of New Zealand is still and serene but Huka Falls is a foaming torrent of water raging from the Waikato River. It is possible to capture two entirely different shots here – one of the angry, energy-packed rapids and another of the gentle Waikato as it winds its way to the falls. Pumping nearly 300,000 litres of water per second through the narrow gorge, it’s the sheer volume of water rather than the height of the falls that make them so spectacular.

After facing the good and dangers around 20 countries as a photographer, I present this article explaining few travel tips that could be a piece of advice for the future photographers.

Get a Good Guide
Before you leave for a trip, you’d surely have an itinerary to get-set-go. But once you reach, do pick a guide to help you with accommodation, places to visit, best cuisines, medical aid, international calling cards, etc. In foreign countries, there are various rules for shooting and photography mainly in public places. You could even be charged or under detention if rules aren’t followed. If you can’t arrange a guide through a travel agent, your lodge or hotel can help you find one. A good guide saves time and isn’t expensive.

Packing Your Equipment
Keeping in mind the restrictive packing rules on airplanes, pack your camera rightly. Pack your camera equipment in such a manner that it is easy to carry and always at your sight. Be sure to charge the camera battery as the airport security may ask you to demonstrate its functions.

Use An Old Bag
It is advisable to use an old bag for your camera or rather make it look worn out. The bag need not be really old but make it just a little shabby so that it doesn’t appear to be a camera bag. You may not recognize those decent looking thieves around you but they would certainly guess what’s in your attractive bag. So let your camera bag look simpler than a profound one.

Insuring Your Equipment
Before you leave, contact your insurance company to insure or to confirm if your photography equipment is covered. Provide them your trip details about the equipments you’ll be carrying, destination, schedule, etc. And make note of serial numbers and models of each equipment. You might need to purchase a rider to cover your photography equipment.

Carry A Lens Cleaning Kit
A lens cleaning kit will be helpful to clean any scratches, dust or sand that may settle onto your lens. You may end up having a bad trip or returning home with no good photography if your lens isn’t kept clean. Hence if you are going away for a lengthy period of time, do pack a few kits.

Fortunately for the amateur photographer many of the animals you see on safari will not be moving fast. They will be asleep under a tree, or wallowing in a small water hole, or gently browsing on grassy plains. Any action shots will be in short sharp bursts so you’ll need to be ready for it. Generally you’ll end up with about ten or so animal portrait shots for each action shot. So there will be plenty of shots to show at home no matter you reactions.

The following are some general tips for those thinking of making it a photographic experience to remember when on a luxury safari.

Get a protective filter (UV) for each of your lens. Obviously it’s very dusty out there and a lens hood won’t stop the dust getting on the front element if it’s unprotected.

If you can, try and take a second camera body. Partly as a backup, but moreover, to avoid changing lenses as this could let dust onto your sensor.

Take something to clean your sensor (an Arctic Butterfly sensor cleaning brush is a good choice) and something to clean both your lenses and camera body itself.

Support wise a bean bag is probably the best idea. Don’t bother taking a tripod or monopod, there most likely won’t be room in the vehicle unless there are only a few of you. A bean bag is stable enough, probably more stable than a monopod in this situation.

Overall, you will need a lot of luck when it comes to actually capturing shots of the animals. Usually at the first sign of a kill, vehicles will gather around it and if you’re not lucky enough to be one of the first to arrive you will have to wait for the others to move on.

Get a good pair of binoculars to help spot the wildlife, especially the wildlife with spots. Leopards are very good at hiding so you need to go and find them, they won’t just come to you!

When setting up a wildlife shot, try and avoid including a lot of foreground and focus on the subject’s eyes. At 400mm the depth of field is very thin, so your focusing needs to be very accurate.

One technique that’s good to practice before you go is panning with a slow shutter speed. The aim here is to track a moving subject, keeping its eyes in focus during the exposure. This way, you can keep shooting even in very low light.

The key is practice. Get to know how your camera’s focus tracking works. Use the different modes and see what works best for different situations.

No matter where you go, whether it’s a Tanzania safari or a romp around Kenya, great results can be had by all.

Crashing waterfalls, lush green rainforests, pre-Colombian ruins, fields of ice bergs………….that sounds like South America. When it comes to photography, this is one of my favourite locations. To be honest, it doesn’t really matter which country you land in as they all have something great to see….and they also have lots of things in common. Most westerners are usually fascinated by some of South America’s areas of natural beauty, such as the Patagonia, the Amazon Rainforest, the Iguazu Falls and the Andes…and they can’t get enough pictures of these wondrous creations. However, let me mention some of the things that I liked to capture on camera when I was in this part of the world.

Street dogs

In South America you may be surprised to see street dogs or stray dogs wandering aimlessly around the capitals of many countries. Street dogs? Yes….as it sounds…many abandoned dogs just lie in the streets waiting for someone to feed them. Catching their harmless expressions on camera was one of my favourite activities when I was touring South America. These dogs are one of the things which characterise this part of the world.

Fruit and vegetables

Perhaps something else which is different for foreigners is the food. I remember going to the local markets and eyeing up the fruit and vegetables. I was fascinated to see such a variety of different fruits, such as papaya and lucuma, and so cheap and big, I just had to get pictures.

Shanty towns

Ok…perhaps it isn’t the best idea to go wandering around poor areas of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo or any city by yourself….especially armed with your new Canon camera. However, sometimes you can take an organised tour, or just drive past the areas. These areas make great photographs.

Street stalls

In cities or on country roads I love to stop to take a picture of random street stalls as this is something you don’t really see anywhere else.

Run down areas of the city

I also love taking pictures of things you just don’t expect to see….potholes in the roads, electricity cables hanging loose in the streets, old parts of the city covered in graffiti….these are just some of the images which remind me of South America.

There are just so many images to catch on camera which really do capture the essence of South America. If you can’t decide which city to visit, why don’t you make your decision based on the cheapest airline tickets you find to any destination. American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Lan Airlines and Aerolineas Argentina are just some of the companies which offer flights to this part of the world.

For those with a passion for photography, whether it is a profession or a pastime, it is often considered that the best way to obtain some great snaps of landscape is to travel abroad to some of the more famous locations. People can often underestimate the potential of the landscape which they live in close proximity to. Despite being a relatively small island which is packed with towns and cities, the UK has a number of areas where the landscape is nothing short of breathtaking. There is enough to keep even the fussiest of photographers occupied in these locations, and the affordability of travel makes them an ideal location. Below are some of the most beautiful landscapes to photograph in the UK.

Giant’s Causeway
Heralded by many as being worthy of ‘Wonder of the World’ status, these basalt columns on the north east coast of Northern Ireland provide an photo opportunity which simply can’t be matched anywhere in the world.

Brecon Beacons
This welsh landmark is used by most of the armed services as a challenging environment for their recruits to prove and maintain their fitness. The reason the landscape is so challenging is that it has so much character. It also happens to be stunning in appearance. The views from, and of, the various mountains provide food for thought for any photographer.

Lake District
As the name suggests, the Lake District is home to some of the most stunning views of water in the UK. The district has been recognised as an area of national beauty, and for good reason. The views which the area provides are unrivalled in the UK as they are in most countries around the world. This area really is like something from a picture book.

Scottish Highlands
Largely uninhabited due to the difficult and unmanageable terrain, the Scottish Highlands are famous for the astonishing landscape which spreads over such a large area. There are so many areas to visit, but some of the best are Ardnamurchan, Moidart, Morar, Assynt and Cape Wrath.

Written by James Burrows who works in the Travel industry and offers Paris apartments France and Accommodation in Paris for European travellers.

The dwell-finder simply slides onto the digicam’s accessory port and sizzling shoe when wanted to supply 1.15x magnification, a 100% subject of view with amazing decision, brightness and contrast. The viewfinder refreshes quickly to attenuate image ghosting on quick-transferring subjects.

For individuals who want to capture enhanced audio, the brand new EMA-1 external microphone connector will be plugged into the new digital camera’s external accent port. With this mode, a easy push of the shutter launch allows you to hold fast-transferring and unpredictable topics in focus–tracking subjects from left to proper and from entrance to again–within the body, automatically ensuring that even lively topics are captured clearly.

Even More Methods to Create
Olympus pioneered easy-to-use in-digital camera art filters for nonetheless images captured inside its E-System DSLRs. It was the first firm to supply the flexibility to apply art filters to Excessive Definition video recordings captured with the E-P1. Now, the E-P2 continues this custom of innovation with eight in-camera artwork filters, together with new filters: the Diorama and Cross Process. The Diorama art filter provides users a miniature mannequin photo feeling by narrowing the depth of focus and enhancing coloration and contrast. The selective focus that this filter presents lends intimacy to photographs of even the largest topics like canyons or cityscapes.

If you want to learn the basics of digital photography, it really doesn’t matter whether you’re using a digital compact or a DSLR with the exception of these few important differences.

Digital Compacts

One of the biggest advantages to digital compacts is the cost. Also when you purchase a DSLR you will also need to purchase at least one lens, and if you want to take pictures from afar, you’ll also need a good telephoto lens. Digital compacts always come with a built in lens and sometimes even come with a zoom.

If you have an optical zoom on your digital compact, you can get some good quality telephoto shots too. An Optical zoom is always better than digital zoom because a digital zoom works like cropping and takes away pixels. The more you zoom with digital zoom, the lower the quality of your photograph. Unlike regular zooms, an optical zoom maintains the quality of your picture.

Some compacts produce such high quality photographs that many a pro will grab the compact if they dont’ want to carry all their DSLR gear. The quality of the photo depends largely on the photographer’s skill.

Even though digital compacts don’t have as many megapixels as DSLRs, they can still produce a good 8×10 print (perfect for an 8×10 picture frame) even if they just have 5 megapixels.

And lastly, learning how to use a digital compact is a lot easier than learning how to use a DSLR with all of its functions.

Digital Single Lens Reflexes (DSLRs)

A Digital SLR is the digital version of a single lens reflex camera or SLR. DSLR’s are also called SLRs but never the other way around. With the release of cameras like the Canon Rebel and other moderately priced DSLRs, more photography enthusiasts are enjoying the benefits of using a DSLR.

The big advantage of the DSLR is its creativity and versatility.

For example, by using a long telephoto lens you can take a close up of an eagle on the top of a tree and you’ll never be able to tell from the picture that he was so far away. With a DSLR, you can find a lens or filter to suit almost any photographic need.

Another advantage to the DSLR is its ability to take crisp, focused sports and other action shots in places with low light where flash isn’t allowed. The larger sensor on a DSLR allows you to adjust the ISO and get a good picture, whereas with a compact it usually creates an image with a lot of grain called digital noise. If you’re taking still shots, it’s not an issue. The problem with Sports Mode in a low light setting is that the shutter must close quickly so there is just not enough light to hit the image sensor even with a large aperture setting. The only way this can be compensated for is with a flash or a higher ISO setting.

However, you can get rid of most digital noise by using photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop.

Another advantage of using a DSLR is that you can use an external flash instead of always having to use natural light.

DSLRs have more megapixels than the best of the digital compacts, meaning you can take and print high quality pictures for framing in large picture frames like 11×14 frames or larger.. Finally, digital cameras are slower to take the picture, but DSLRs are far faster than compacts.

Although the digital photography basics do start with selecting a camera, the quality of your images will largely depend upon how you use your camera. Regardless of what type of camera you have or will be buying, you have to be willing to practice and enjoy taking lots of pictures with your camera.
