First cameras became simple and cheap and many decided to be their own amateur photographer. When digital photography lowered the cost factor, the average person could now be both photographer and photo shop for much less than prints formerly cost. Yet, sometimes it’s just good to leave the photography to others, and here are some reasons why.

If you are the one to record an event like a family reunion, you know the bondage of always feeling like you must be looking for the perfect shot. To be good you must think like a photographer. Have you ever taken so much time to get a shot that you missed the event? Recently we got a call to watch a TV station to see our granddaughter in a parade. I spent the time trying to get the camera to focus on the TV and missed seeing her. I wish I had just enjoyed the moment and waited until they sent the pictures.

It is true that, with all the electronics, cameras today can be very easy to use. However, it can be difficult to keep straight how to make the camera do what you want. What do all the icons on top mean? Do you know how to turn on or off the auto focus or flash? What does P, TV, Av, or M stand for? Unless you use these features regularly, you will find it difficult to keep it all in your mind, and if you don’t the features are as good as missing from the camera.

If you are going to be the photographer at an event, you will need to get in some conspicuous place so you can get just the right angle. Then it’s hard to find people who enjoy the camera pointing at them every other minute. Then you will coax them, tease them, bribe them, trick them until you can get the memory. Wouldn’t it be nice if someone else were the bad guy next time?

All right, you do become the chief photographer at an important event. Now guess who will get requests for CDs full of pictures, as if you have plenty of free time to dedicate to this. Or they may be sending you an email asking you to post the pictures online or send them as attachments to your email.

It is not just a matter of time either. Online posting of digital photography is great, but some people can’t access it. For them you will need to buy photographic paper and lots of ink for your printer. Oh, you don’t have a printer? If not, be sure to get one that has multiple ink cartridges so that they can be replaced individually when all the relatives keep asking for more prints.

If you want to look like a tourist, by all means hang a camera around your neck and draw it to your eye regularly. And don’t be surprised if people decide your pictures are more important to you than they are.

Think of this: if you have a minor plumbing problem, you fix it yourself. But when a major problem arises, you take it to a mechanic. The same can be said of photography. Don’t get rid of your camera. But when it comes to those really important events, hire an expert, kick up your heels, and enjoy yourself for once.

When you want your photos done right, choosing the best photographer for your needs is worth the investment. If you follow the principles above, you will likely be glad you had it done professionally. Del Haven Studio is the location of an experienced Virginia Beach Wedding Photographer who is very skilled - as you can see from her website portfolio.

Technology and innovation has placed digital photography into the forefront in such a fast phase. It is very common today for young children to also have their own camera. Mainly because they have become much cheaper and more widely available, but also due to how easy they are to use. They are also much more convenient and require no film or processing. Due to the big number of consumers of digital cameras and prospective aficionados of digital photography, the number of companies and manufacturers of various brands of digital cameras has become quite numerous. Knowing what to buy can be a minefield of information, if only it was easy as where to buy given the number of sales and stores now available to us. It can get quite confusing deciding what to choose with such a large choice. To assist in making the best camera buy, consider some factors,.

Price

When buying anything, it is usually the price that is first considered, unless the buyer is filthy rich. With a huge range of digital cameras available, you should find it fairly easy to browse within your budget. Obviously the more expensive the camera is the better the quality is likely to be. Therefore, if you intend to make a living out digital photography, putting more money in it becomes an investment and will be more beneficial to you in the long run. Otherwise a cheaper, less complicated camera may be better for you to start with.

Intention for Buying

In connection with the price, you need to first think of your main reason why you wanted to buy the camera. As mentioned already, if it is to seriously take up digital photography, a good quality one will be the ideal choice. When using for everyday basic photographs then possibly a cheaper choice would be a camera with lower megapixels.

Durability

If buying, whatever amount of money is involved, you will of course want something that is durable. The more money you put in it, the more durable the item should be. Double check with a store clerk as to the durability of the camera. Another thing to consider is getting a product with a money back guarantee.

Aside from the abovementioned factors, there are still a lot of other important details to consider when buying a digital camera. Since cameras are highly technical products, we have to consider each technical aspect. Below are some of the most vital features for consideration:

Megapixel

Many of today’s camera is bought according to the number of megapixel the camera is capable of handling. Digital cameras have a wide range in megapixels, so you must consider how you are going to use the images. If you are into professional digital photography, then you may opt for the higher megapixel types since you may enlarge the photos taken without compromising the integrity of every shot. A cheaper option may be best if using your camera for fun only.

Lens Quality

Optical zoom lens of various cameras of today range from about 3x to 18 times optical zoom lenses. The choice depends upon how you choose to use your camera.

Feel of the Camera

It is important to make an actual test of the camera by putting it in your hands and testing its familiarity. You cannot rely simply on looks of a digital camera. It is best that it will feel right in your own palms to ensure great shots when already doing some digital photography.

USB Capability

Today’s gadgets are now almost always linkable to the computer, making it easier to transfer, modify, print and do many other things with it. Digital cameras are mostly USB capabale thesedays, but always make sure as not all of them are. Be sure this feature is included for the sake of convenience.

Manual Focus

Although optical zoom features are highly important, it would be handy to also have one with both zoom lens and manual focus. It will allow you to manually adjust your lens giving you more control.

Tripod Feature

Although some may not find it important, it would be useful to have a camera that can be screwed to a tripod. This helps to prevent blurred images. You won’t always need to use this, but it is convenient to have it when needed.

Macro Setting

This feature, most especially in digital photography, will allow you to take photos of anything at a proximity of 3 to 4 inches. If you do not have this feature it may be rather frustrating, particulary for a photographer.

Other important features can be considered before buying a digital camera that will surely help you produce great photos. Deciding on what you need will depend on how you intend to use the camera. If your budget does not stretch to include all features you require then you have to decide what you need most.

MattsCanvas has over over 15 years experience offers quality Canvas Prints, Photos on Canvas and Pop Art Portraits.

Digital cameras were firstly introduced into the consumer market way back in 1981 by SONY. With new options and immensely increased quality the manufacturers of digital cameras have brought the standards into a much higher levels than what it was when digital cameras were first introduced back in 1981. The quality of the pictures are far better than what it was few years ago and it will continue to improve. Amateurs and professionals have used these cameras for their hobbies, and others for their photography home based business.

Cameras are being upgraded at a fast rate that they get out dated even within a few weeks time. With cameras getting outdated so quickly understandably there are more discounts been applied on them. Trying to sell products immediately is the primary goal of the retail shop owners. A kind of marketing is also done by the third party seller so as to gain more profits. So discounts are used as a prominent tool by the sellers to market their products.

Discounted digital cameras are seen more often nowadays because of the fast increasing technology and the competition as well. Customer knowledge on digital cameras is higher and their interest is wider, and they always demand for better quality. As the quality of digital cameras is increased day by day customers prefer buying an expensive new version rather than an old cheaper version of it. Due to this, older technologies get more discounts to attract more customers somehow hoping that it will be sold in the process. With the competition building up so rapidly manufacturers tend to sell discount digital cameras at a more cheaper prize than their opponents in order to cope with the less demand on older cameras.

There are times when the discount is given away with a reduction of an option which was available before. When a certain product does not hit the targeted profit levels the manufacturers tend to reduce the price of it in the above mentioned way. Therefore they will be tempted to decrease the price and then re-market the product as a discount digital camera to at least cover the cost of manufacturing.

Based on the facts nowadays, it’s almost impossible to keep up with technology because of the very fast improvements on digital cameras. So people sometimes tend to think about the depreciation of the price and tend to go for an average quality product with basic options, where discount digital cameras could come in handy (especially for their home photography business). Retail shops seek the help of websites such as Amazon and other retail business websites to advertise and market their discount digital cameras knowing that there is a set of consumers who are interested in them. Discounted values for digital cameras certainly cannot be rejected even though it is not a profit gainer for both third party and also the manufacturer since it is the customer who should decide whether to buy it or not.

In this information age, most of us have digital cameras that can produce images of impeccable quality. I would even go as far to say that there has never been a time like the present where so many people have the power to take pictures of the world around them.

Have you thought about selling your pictures?

There are many ways that you can make money from your digital images. Perhaps one of the easiest ways is to find representation with a rights managed stock photography agency. By having a company that specializes in selling photos working for you, you will have a better chance of making money from your images. If you were to try it on your own, chances are that you would get discouraged as marketing pictures can be a lot of hard work. There are just so many companies that need quality images for their publications and your photos might be exactly what they are looking for.

The biggest thing that you need to consider is that not every one of your photographs will sell. In fact, the biggest favor that you could do for yourself would be to go over your image library with a fine toothed comb and weed out the garbage.

Garbage photographs would include such things as blurry images (unless it is a scene in motion), out of focus pictures, and photos where the composition is just horrible. Be sure to only submit your best photos as you want to let the agency know that you only have quality photographs. Just remember that it is common for some of your submission to be rejected, so don’t take it personally.

How much you make with a stock photo agency will depend on a number of things, but usually a larger number of images that are represented by your stock agency, the better chance of you having a sale. Taking pictures of just one thing will not make you rich so make sure that you have a wide variety of photos and compositions so that your images will appeal to many people and companies.

Do yourself a favor and don’t expect to make a ton of money overnight. Many photographers make enough money to buy a new camera, or put some extra money into their pockets. Most will never make enough selling images to get rid of their full time job. By taking the time to focus on sharp images, great compositions, and a variety of images, your stock image portfolio will continue to send money your way for years to come.

The popularity of weddings seems to have increased in recent years, despite the decline in ‘traditional’ values. As Hello magazine inspired weddings become more and more lavish, however, the costs of the typical wedding have also become exhorbitant. The average cost of a wedding in the US last year was ,000, and £20,000 in the UK. That’s probably the most expensive day you’ll ever have (unless you one day throw a winning lottery ticket in the wash). As the recession gets worse and job security declines, brides and grooms to be are become incresingly wary of such expensive weddings and are naturally looking for a cheaper way. Among the drastic measures being taken are asking guests to help with food or music, trimming down invitations to close friends and family only, and the idea of a ‘pre-worn wedding dress’ has appeared in recent years, which was unheard of just 10 years ago. However when it comes to photography, most couples don’t want to go for a cheap option - and you can understand why. Of all the possible expenses you could lay out for your wedding day, its the photography that will stay with you and your family long after the others are just a hole in your bank account. I’ve put together my 5 top tips for how to find a fantastic wedding photographer without breaking the bank.

1. Making the best of Google

There aren’t many photographers around today that don’t have a website, and one of the best ways of finding and comparing wedding photographers in your area and price range is through search engines like Google. However with competition being so fierce it’s not hard for prospective brides and grooms to miss out on some really special and talented photographers by not looking far enough when searching. Do not make the mistake of not going beyond the first page of results or the top few sponsored links in Google. Make sure you spend time going deep into the search results and coming up with a shortlist of photographers in your budget so you can really compare a range of styles and options. Additionally use specialist search terms like “black and white”, “reportage”, etc, as well as looking for wedding photographers from other towns within a couple of hundred miles from you, as most are happy to travel. My wife and I live in Sussex, and when looking for our photographer we not only searched “Wedding Photographer Sussex“, we also made sure to look for photographers in London, Kent and Hampshire.

2. Watch Out for Hidden Costs

Nowadays the vast majority of photographers use digital cameras rather than older film cameras requiring development in a darkroom. Which means that the wedding photography prices have become a lot simpler. So I’m amazed that so many photographers still charge their customers an extra fee for each print on top of the booking! I would strongly suggest you forget about these guys and go for someone who will provide a hi-res CD of all the images from the day. Armed with this CD you can then trot down to your high street photo printers and get the prints you want in the size you want at minimal cost.

3. Make your Own Photo Books!

Traditional wedding albums with flowery covers and peeling pages are becoming a relic of the past. Today you have stylish wedding photo books are a big hit with most couples - but the problem is if you go through your photographer these will often cost you an arm and a leg. Yet if you’re willing to make a little effort yourself and you have some creative flair, there are many photobook services now where you can design one at home and get them printed at bargain prices. Ditto when it comes to canvas prints or blow up posters really - as long as you have high quality original image files from your photographer, you can pretty much do it all yourself!

4. Yes, There are a Few Swindlers Out There, But You Can Easily Avoid Them

I have heard so many stories of unfortunate couples who have been taken in by unscrupulous con artists posing as wedding photographers. Such criminals, who it must be said are few and far between, lure couples in with a too good to be true package, often stolen photos, and once they receive the deposit you never hear from them again. It is a heartbreaking and cruel practice. The thing is, if you’re vigilant they’re pretty easy to spot and avoid. Make sure you pay any deposits via secure bank transfer as this can be traced in the event of a problem, and that you receive an invoice and receipt for your payment. Also make sure you get a legally binding contract from the photographer which states clearly what you are getting for your money and will protect you. Finally, and probably most importantly, the phrase “constant vigilance” applies here - go and visit the photographer before money changes hands, make sure you see examples of their work and ask questions about how everything will work - a good photographer will put your fears to rest.

5. Don’t be Tempted to Cut Corners!

Now this one may sound counter-intuitive when it comes to ‘credit crunch weddings’ but I feel it’s an important one. Whilst trying to get the best possible deal and price beware of taking things too far! As I said above, the photos are probably the most important part of the wedding day when you look back at it in years to come. There are hundreds of amateur and inexperienced ‘photographers’ out there who are trying their luck as a side income. If you look at their prices they seem like a bargain. But often the real bargains are to be found by going up a level in pricing. Remember that if you don’t look at your photographer’s work and go “wow” what is the point in spending all that money on a professional?

I ended up in Denmark kind of on a whim. Denmark had never really made my traveling list before. But once I was fortunate enough to visit, I couldn’t believe that I had overlooked such a great and colourful country.

Most of my stay in Denmark consisted of visiting a friend who lived in Copenhagen. The cosmopolitan city is renowned for its fun loving and tolerant residents. My favourite place in Copenhagen that I visited was Christiana.

Christiana is an environmentally conscious, traffic-free city with paths, gravel roads and large water areas. It covers an 85 acre area and has almost 1000 inhabitants. It is a major tourist attraction as it is a symbol for free-spiritedness and liberation. The area is free of many symbols of modern life including traffic lights which make the stars a lot brighter and easier to see. I found it a bit odd staring at these people’s way of life like they were in a fish bowl, but it was very interesting none the less.

The other tourist attraction I had a chance to see was the Tivoli Gardens. I was not expecting there to be so much inside the gardens. At first I was surprised that there was an entrance fee, but once inside I understood that it was much more than just a garden. There is a lake, a ton of flowers, a bunch of amusement rides, and an obscene amount of restaurants inside Tivoli. It is so much bigger than I thought and it was really beautiful. It was, however, full of tourists.

The rest of my time in Copenhagen was spent doing everyday local things since I was lucky enough to be staying with my friend. I got to experience regular life, and even got to see a concert. Now that I’ve seen a bit of Denmark, I can’t wait to do a complete Scandinavian tour.

Finding a cheap flight has become quest-like for us frequent low-budget travelers. The most effective ways to find the cheapest flights change often and in order to find the best deals it is essential to pay attention to the newest websites and tools. Here is a list of tips and tricks to ensure that you save your money for your actual vacation.

1.	The two most important assets in your quest are patience and perseverance. You will need to devote some time to comparison shopping, so before you start you should settle down at your computer with a cup of coffee and a pad of paper and pen so that you can take notes on the various price offers from the different sites you will need to check.
2.	Know your vocabulary- not all search engines are like. There are different types of search engines and each has different strengths and weaknesses. Airfare aggregators work by searching multiple different airlines. Kayak, Yahoo Fare Chase, Sidestep and Mobissimo are all aggregators. It is a good idea to check all of them, however, because they often return slightly different results. Once you have completed these searches you should have an idea of the range of prices you will be looking at for your trip. Often times you will find the cheapest flight through one of the aggregators but don’t give up yet- you need to make sure you haven’t missed out on a deal.
3.	For good measure you should now check the traditional booking engines. Traditional booking engines also search multiple websites but they charge a small booking fee if you buy your tickets through them. Orbitz, Expedia, Priceline, Travelocity, Cheaptickets, and Hotwire are all traditional booking engines.
4.	Be sure to utilize the best features of each search engine. For example if you are looking for a package deal you should try Site59. If you have flexible travel dates be sure to use the flexible dates feature on Fare Compare and Travelocity. If your destination is not set in stone then try the neat tools on sites like Kayak Buzz, Airfare Watchdog, Farewatch, Mobissimo and Farecast.
5.	Check the websites of each individual airline. Be sure to start with Southwest Airlines because the aggregators do not pick up their fares. If you find a fairly good deal through one of the search engines on a particular airline then go directly to the airline’s website and buy the flight there. You will normally get better customer service buying direct.
6.	Remember that not all flights are alike. It is more challenging to find a good deal on an international flight than on a domestic one. The websites that are geared for international searches are Mobissimo, Sky Scanner and Do Hop. Most of the traditional search engines also search internationally. Don’t forget to check websites for airlines that operate out of your destination country (ex. Ireland and AerLingus, Mexico and Mexicana). If you are not sure what your destination’s home airline is you can visit WhichBudget.com. For international trips it can also be worth it to talk with a travel agent as they can sometimes obtain special deals.

A trip to Disney World has become practically a right of passage for families in the United States. Since it’s opening in 1971 Walt Disney World has risen to mythic status; the Magic Castle and Mickey Mouse are symbols that almost anyone born after 1971 could identify before they even entered school. Unfortunately for today’s generation of parents, who may themselves, have happy memories of trips to Disney World, the park’s cultural status brings with it a huge amount of pressure to take and have the perfect “magical” trip. It is telling that many of the Disney World vacation planning websites start off advising would be visitors not to let themselves get overwhelmed. A huge pressure point of course is financial. If you let it or can afford it; it is certainly possible to spend overwhelming amounts of money on your ideal Disney vacation. However, it is also possible with a lot of planning and a little bit of discipline to visit the world’s most famous theme park on a budget. Here is a list of tips to help you save money while still making lovely family memories.

1.	Devote some time to doing research at least 6 months in advance. Certain restaurants and particularly lunches with Cinderella or the Disney Princesses actually fill up this far ahead of time.

2.	Decide what your priorities are: do you want 7 days of nothing but Disney World, do you plan to rent a car and visit other sites in Florida, are you within driving distance or will you be flying? Depending on your answers to these questions the most economical solution for you will vary. For example if you are flying down specifically to visit Disney World than you can stay on-site at a resort. You should also contact a travel agent about possible package deals. If you will be renting a car- then stay off site in a less expensive hotel. You can also book a hotel outside of the park and stay in Orlando. It is a lot cheaper than staying in the park and many Orlando hotels have shuttles into the park for free.

3.	If at all possible visit the park during off-peak times to avoid lines and frustrations. If you have to visit during peak times- decide ahead of time which rides you absolutely must go on and which you can give a pass if the line is just too crazy. Think of silly games to play with your children while in line, heck, make friends with other kids and parents waiting in your line.

4.	Keep careful track of your food budget. You can save a lot of money eating breakfast in the hotel. Don’t forget to bring plenty of snacks and water to munch on during the day. If your kids are older than 5 give them some pocket money in the morning and let them chose how to spend it be it on ice cream or souvenirs. They will be surprisingly more frugal than you would think.

5.	Maintain your sense of humor and (I have to say it) try not to get overwhelmed. Something is bound to go wrong so when it does remember to laugh it off. In the end your kids will remember the wonder of the trip not the long lines of lost dinner reservation.

For the photography loving traveler choosing what time of camera equipment to bring on the trip and what to leave at home can be a heart wrenching decision. The digital camera is small and light while the SLR is accurate- how to choose one over the other? While there are clearly pros and cons to each- it is this writers argument that for the average traveler an appropriately chosen digital camera is more than likely the most sensible decision for the following reasons:

1.	Design & Spontaneity: They are slim and light. You can easily stow one in a pocket and pull it out at a moments notice to capture that beautiful church you happen upon on a meandering walk or the bird that alights on the trail just ahead of you on a nature hike.
2.	The inconspicuous factor: The most common identifying factor of a tourist is that big clunky camera (don’t you remember the Griswolds?). Regretfully in many lovely parts of the world it can identify you as a target. Better to keep your camera well out sight when you’re not using it and to not single yourself out as a potential robbery target when you do.
3.	Price: Stuff happens on trips. We forget things in hotels; we break thinks, drop things in water or occasionally get robbed. Cameras often fall casualty to all kids of accidents. It is better to have to replace a $300.00 digital camera than a $1,500.00 SLR.
4.	Movies: Video comes standard on most digital models. If you decide one day spontaneously to zip line across a canyon- you can take a video to prove it to your friends back home.
5.	The LCD display: It makes for easier framing of shots and makes it possible to preview and enjoy your pictures. If you take a picture with team of eight year old soccer players that you’ve befriended you need to be able to show them instantly.
6.	Durability: The closed design protects the sensor from the dust and dirt of traveling. Again see reason 3.
7.	Zoom: Digital cameras come with built in longer-range zoom capability than is cost practical for SLRs. You can also change the zoom from wide angle to telephoto quickly and with little hassle.
8.	Blogs and Facebook: The digital cameras allow you to quickly download your pictures from any Internet café so that you can regularly update your blog or facebook page while still on the trip. It makes printing more convenient as well in case you want to leave printed copies of photos with some of your traveling companions.
9.	No need to sweat over a fancy camera bag: A good SLR camera bag is essential but digital cameras only require an inexpensive, pocket able sleeve.
10. Versatility: The other plus to the LCD is the capability to take shots from many different angles including above crowds and around corners. No SLR on the market today can compare.

A good camera like a good traveler should be flexible, durable and versatile and in these categories the digital cameras are the clear winners.
