I was invited to the England Capital on business by my supplier I have worked with for 10 years. Holland and France are two European countries I have visited for similar purpose. I have read a lot about London in books and have heard a lot about it. I wanted to verify all that i have read and heard. I made my hotel reservation to stay in one of the hotels in Russell square for one week and also another reservation to stay in London Victoria for another week as I wanted to visit all the Landmarks I have heard of in these areas.
I got to Heathrow Airport via the British Airways and wen through immigiration. I got a taxi to go to the Tavistock hotel in Russell Square. The Russell square is home to many good hotels.
On my first day, I just fell in love with the area. My London street map took me to town the very first day I was in the capital. The City was not different from what I have read in books. I first visited the British Museum which I understand has over 7 million items from all over the world and also visited British Library all in Russell Square. My next destination was Covent Garden. I went there to have a look at some of the street performers and visited some of the shops there.
For the rest of the week at Tavistock hotel London, I visited the West end area. I visited the Marble arch and the Oxford Circus. The Leicester Square is an area in London which has a conentration of theatres. I saw a lot of them when I went there. I went to the Piccadilly Circus and it was actually a very busy area. Many other tourist were there for the same purpose as I was. I paid a visit to the shopping streets in the West End area on my 5th day and was surprised to see that the place was so dense with shoppers and other tourists. I found out that the Oxford Street was the busiest, then the Bond Street and the Regent Street in that order. Not far from Oxford Street is Soho. I stole the opportunity to explore the area.
I went to stay in Victoria area in my second week as booked through Cheap London hotels agency. I was really looking forward to my stay in the area close to the Buckingham Palace and the houses of Parliament. I was in Buckingham Palace the very day i arrived at Victoria to witness the changing of the guard. I was also anxious to see the Big Ben which I have seen picture of in books. Just a few metres away from the Big Ben are the Houses of Parliamnet. At the parliament Square, I went to have a look at the Westminster Abbey. I then decided to go and have a look at the London Eye. It is a piece of are which will always attract tourists. The London ey will continue to be one of the best Landmarks in London for quite sometime. I enjoyed my stay in Central London and I would like to stay in the cheap hotels in Russell square as they have good accommodation standard but lower rates.
