Photography in Paris

Paris is one of those cities that everyone loves to capture on camera. There are just so many places to snap. Here are 5 of my favourite spots for taking photographs in the French capital.

1. La Défense

La Défense is Paris’ major business district and it is located in the west of the city. The main feature of La Défense is the Grande Arche, which is the perfect place to pose for some photographs. Stand under or against the arch in a striking pose or capture the famous Arc de Triomphe from Grande Arche. There aren’t as many tourists in this area so if you are lucky, you could get this feature to yourself.

2. Metro

Paris is famous for its metro stations and here you can get great pictures which capture the essence of daily life in Paris. Snap the trains, Parisian faces, metro signs….all of these things are what make Paris Paris.

3. Parc de la Villette

Not only is this a park, but it is also a work of art. Parc de la Villette is a great place to take photographs because it has gardens, playgrounds, follies and it is just worth seeing. It is full of bright colours and has some special feature to mark each season of the year. This is another great place for posing in photographs.

4. Sacre Coeur

Apart from the fantastic view from the balcony, the Sacre Coeur is a beautiful church which will interest photographers who love taking pictures of one building but from many different angles. Place du Tertre is beside the Sacre Coeur and it is very touristy, but also great for taking pictures.

5. Parc du Champs de Mar

The gardens beside the Eiffel Tower are where many newlyweds go to get photographs taken. Get there at sunrise to capture the best shots with fewer people in the background. Here you can get some great pictures of Paris’ most famous tourist attractions.

Getting to Paris

International flights to Paris arrive at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, the main gateway to the city. British Airways and Air France operate flights to and from this city.
